As we reflect on the last day of 2020 let us not forget that we made it through this year due to our first responders, front line workers, doctors, nurses, postal workers, UPS drivers and all that have given their lives in order to help others.
This year was a year of lost. We lost love ones and icons. Kobe Bryant to Ruth Bader Ginsburg. We have a new meaning to close proximity when the country was on shutdown in March and we were in a work from home mode. We also valued our teachers when parents had to step in and explain improper fractions. Wow, at that moment I realized how important our teachers are.
Our new found love was our TV when we were binge watching shows that we may have missed while working and now realized how awesome it is to sit on the couch and eat junk food.
We gain a few pounds, well maybe 15, 20 pounds to be exact. In other words we let ourselves go, but it was ok because we got to know ourselves, our kids even our spouses. Whether they got on our nerves was another matter, yet this pandemic called Covid-19 gave a whole new meaning of being close or not so close together. 6 feet apart and mask wearing was the new normal. Toilet paper, Lysol and hand sanitizer was worth more than gold. I mean it was really like a new drug. You saw someone with toilet paper and you would offer them top dollar to give it to you.
Lastly, voting and protesting for human rights and black lives brought all races together. Breanna Taylor & George Floyd as well as other black people lost their lives due to the hands of those that were to protect and serve. It goes to show the power of your voice matters. Black, white and brown people came together to protest so that you can say they name. So I say good-bye to 2020. May you rest in peace.
